Michigan State University discovered the genes known as polarity genes play an important role in cancer fighting as they are regulated by a protein responsible for this job.
The protein is a tumor-suppressing and is part of a large part of cells that control cell reproduction, DNA repair, and cellular self-destruction. All cancer fighting tools.
They added the protein in fruit flies and saw the flies’ hair form cowlicks! The genetic similarity between fruit flies and humans means that indeed the protein likely plays a similar role within humans!
